Camper Ninja Supports Local Girls’ Costa Rica Volunteering Mission

Grace and Evie Lyon from Tarporley High School will spend a month assisting with community projects

Here at Camper Ninja, we’re proud to have sponsored a number of local causes in the past years. The latest we have decided to support is that of two sisters from the local Tarporley High School, Grace and Evie Lyon, who are currently fundraising for a volunteering trip with Camps International – a social enterprise that works with communities in developing countries.

In 2024, the girls (aged 14 and 16) are planning a four-week volunteering expedition to Costa Rica, where they will be involved in vital community development projects to help improve infrastructure and facilities.

In addition, they will be involved in wildlife conservation, environmental conservation and marine conservation projects such as helping to protect important migratory bird sites, protecting turtles and their ecosystem and beach clean-ups.

Costa Rica boasts one of the world’s most biodiverse regions. It is the only tropical country to have more or less stopped and then reversed deforestation, and now has one of the world’s highest percentages of protected areas.

We’re proud to be one of the many local companies that have already committed to supporting the girls with their upcoming mission. Grace and Evie have around 12 months of fundraising ahead of them through various means, including running the pop-up cafe at the monthly Utkinton Village Market, running a stall selling ‘Ethical Me’ eco-friendly products, babysitting, part time waitressing and other fundraising events currently in the planning – be sure to support them if you see them on your travels.
